Have you ever wondered what the ideal day in the province of Cádiz would be like?

From Sundates CadizWe don't just manage your property; we want to invite you to get off the beaten path and discover the true essence of our land.

Get your camera and your senses ready, because today we're taking you on a journey through the ancient past, the most authentic architecture, and the flavors that define our coast.

10:00 AM – The jewel in the crown: Vejer de la Frontera (2h)

Our morning begins in one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Spain." Vejer de la Frontera is a labyrinth of whitewashed houses, flower-filled patios, and passageways that seem suspended in time.

What to do in 2 hours? Start in Plaza de España (known as the Plaza de los Pescaditos) and head up towards the walled city. Don't miss the iconic Arco de la Segur and the panoramic views from the Jewish Quarter. It's just the right amount of time to get lost in its narrow streets and feel the magic of its Moorish heritage.

12:30 PM – The special site: Baelo Claudia and Bolonia Beach

Just 30 minutes from Vejer, we head to a unique place in the world, where time stood still 2,000 years ago. The Baelo Claudia Archaeological Site is one of the best-preserved Roman cities on the Iberian Peninsula.

Why it's a must-see: Imagine walking among the columns of an ancient basilica and a Roman theater, all with the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean and the African coast in the background. It's a magical place where history blends seamlessly with the natural beauty of Bolonia Beach and its famous giant dune. An essential visit to understand why Cádiz has captivated so many civilizations!

2:30 PM – Lunch with a taste of salt: The Temple of Bluefin Tuna

After nourishing the soul, it's time to delight the palate. You're in the heart of Almadraba Bluefin Tuna country, a delicacy only truly understood when tasted at its source. For this stop, we recommend heading down to the coast of Barbate or El Palmar.

Our local recommendations:

El Campero (Barbate): Known worldwide as the "temple of tuna." If you're looking for excellence and want to try tuna in all its forms (from tartare to grilled belly), this is the place.

La Peña del Atún (Barbate): A more authentic and popular option. Ideal for trying traditional stews and salted fish in a local atmosphere and with excellent value for money.

El Alférez Restaurant (El Palmar): If you prefer to eat with sea views, this restaurant combines a privileged location on El Palmar beach with exquisite cuisine where rice and tuna are the main attractions.

5:30 PM – Magical sunset at Sancti Petri Castle

To end this perfect day, we returned to our base in Chiclana. There's no better way to say goodbye than watching the sun sink into the Atlantic right behind Sancti Petri Castle.

Tip from Marie & Céline:

Book a sunset boat or kayak trip to experience it from the water, or simply enjoy the view from the sands of La Barrosa beach with a glass of local wine. It's the perfect moment to understand why we call this area the "Promised Land."
